Hello students , as you all know every year GATE exam is being served for those students who wants to extend their studies in core technologies , to commence the higher studies like Masters,doctoral programme and some of them also interested to work in PSU's companies(Navratan companies). GATE is the major level of National examination where Indian candidates as well as other candidates from other regions also participate.GATE exam every year conducted by IIT's and IISC(Indian Institute of Technology).Here ,7 Indian Institute of Technology carries that and they are Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati , Kanpur , Kharagpur , Madras ,and Roorkee.In year of 2021 GATE Introduces some major changes like eligibility criteria for the candidates and some extra non-technical subjects are also added in the list .let's look out on those points more magnificently.The very first thing to look out for any exam is the eligibility criteria for the candidates lets look on that first -
Eligibility criteria
In 2021 GATE examination the Eligibility criteria is changed candidates in their third year of an undergraduate program are also eligible for the GATE examination.Criteria changed from 10+2+4 to 10+2+3 in this year. criteria for other than Indian candidates :
In GATE 2021 candidates from other countries can aslo participate there are some different criteria for them that is -
- Completed their Bachelor's degree or pursuing in the final year of their graduation (Duration atleast 4 years) in Engineering / technology.
- Completed their Post graduate or pursuing in the last year (duration 2 years)in relevant subjects in science.
New subjects in GATE 2021
Here, is a official notice by GATE IITB press release do check this out. Now we will talk about the second big announcement by IIT BOMBAY. This year accordance of the environmental changes ,two new subjects are added in the list ,both are non-technical subjects the first one is Environmental Science and Engineering and second is Humanities and Social Science which introduced by IIT BOMBAY. Unlike the previous years ,In gate 2021 you can also opt for writing up to two subject exams that's a drastic change i must say.lets hear some wishes for the candidates from the Director of IIT BOMBAY Prof. subhash chauduri.
Regarding two new subjects and to the appearing candidates this year Director of IIT BOMBAY said, "While lauding the new initiatives of the GATE-2021 committee, Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, “I feel delighted at the creation of much needed
new career opportunities for those in the Humanities and Social Sciences area as this may
serve as one single standardized criterion for admission to various masters and doctoral
programs in various IITs which is not done before and other universities in India. Should any agency, for example,
various PSUs want to hire candidates with Humanities background, this new exam paper
in GATE will prove to be a great enabler and create more options in this field too"

1.Exam Duration of 2021
- 3 hours (180 Minutes)
2.Number of questions in Exam
- 65 Questions
3.Total Marks
- 100 Marks
4.Question Type
- Numerical Answer Type(NAT)Questions
- Multiple Choice Question(MCQ)
5.Number of Sections
- Consist of Three sections except for AR, CG ,CY, EY, XL,and MA paper: General Aptitude , Engineering Mathematics (for XL papers it is Chemistry) Subject -specific Section (According you choose).
6.General Aptitude
- This section as name implies consist of 10 questions of General aptitude (tentative).5 of the Questions carry 1 marks and rest of them are for 2 Marks answer.
7.Marking scheme of exam
- MCQs - 1 marks for each correct answer:1/3 mark will be deducted every wrong answer in GATE exam.
- MCQs - 2 marks for each correct answer:2/3 mark will be deducted for every incorrect response.there is no negative marking for Numerical Answer Type(NAT)questions in GATE exam.
